Make self-learning your lifestyle

The best thing that you can do for yourself is to learn every day! Never stop discovering new things! B.B. King said, “The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you”. I fully agree with him!

Self-education can free you from a job you hate, from a college program you aren’t excited about. We’re stuck in the myth that to learn something you need to be educated in the school. You need to realize that you’re perfectly able to educate yourself at home. It’s no longer necessary to get a college degree to be qualified to do something. Plenty of successful people got where they are today by teaching themselves the skills, and there’s no reason you can’t do the same!

I believe the key is to develop a habit of learning. The best way how to do that is to set monthly and daily goals and give yourself motivation to accomplishing them. Goal setting is extremely important because it helps you increase productivity!

For example:

If I will learn how to schedule Facebook posts then I can watch one episode of Netflix TV Show after.

If I will do "this" (goal) then I can do "this" (reward)

To have a better overview of your short-term and long-term goals I suggest you write the goals on the paper or use some application that will help you manage all goals (for example Trello). Managing all your goals will also show you how much progress you did in the established time.

The easiest goal which you can complete regularly is to learn one new thing every day. Or you can set the goal to get 1% better at a skill every single day. You can also challenge yourself to read on a daily basis. All your goals depend on your needs.

Self-education should be a commitment! Make sure to fit it in your schedule as a daily activity with deadlines and responsibilities. You can also try to focus more on your work. Take the time to really understand why you do the things you do at work, instead of simply going through the motions. Like that sooner or later you will become an expert in your field.
